Mt. Olive Family RE-UNION - 7th Sunday of Easter (Ascension Sunday)
16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said,
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
A) FIRST SONG: You'll Never Walk Alone, (Rodgers & Hammerstein) led by the Brooklyn College Choir and 300 people from 15 different countries
When you walk through a storm, Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark, At the end of a storm, There's a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark
Walk on through the wind, Walk on through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk on, With hope in your heart, And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone

B) FIRST LESSON: Luke 24:44-53, led by Tanya Browne
Our First Lesson comes from the Gospel of John in the 14th Chapter.
44 [Jesus said to the eleven and those with them,] “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you — that everything written about me in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms must be fulfilled.” 45 Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, 46 and he said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Messiah is to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day, 47 and that repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 And see, I am sending upon you what my Father promised; so stay here in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”
50 Then he led them out as far as Bethany, and, lifting up his hands, he blessed them. 51 While he was blessing them, he withdrew from them and was carried up into heaven. 52 And they worshiped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy; 53 and they were continually in the temple blessing God.
This is the Gospel of the Lord.
C) MESSAGE for the YOUNG at HEART, led by Yarlette Bryant, Sydney Brown and the gifted Goffney Girls
D) LITURGY & PRAYER led by Alicia & Corey Brown
A) The grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
C) We gather together and share a CREED to remember that in God, we have a Companion who will never fail us and will be with us always. Will you share with me the Apostle's Creed?:
A) We take this moment to confess our sins: Do you confess that we are captive to sin and cannot free ourselves. That we have sinned against God in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone.
C) Do you confess that we have not loved God with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.
A) For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name.
C) In the mercy of almighty God, Jesus Christ was given to die for you and for His sake, God forgives you all of your sins. As a called disciple of Christ I declare the entire forgiveness of all of your sins, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
A) Let us pray. O God of glory, your Son Jesus Christ suffered for us and ascended to your right hand. Unite us with Christ and each other in suffering and in joy, that all the world may be drawn into your bountiful presence, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

F) SECOND LESSON: Acts 1:1-11
The Second Lesson comes from Acts, the 11th Chapter.
Luke writes: 1 In the first book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus did and taught from the beginning 2 until the day when he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen. 3 After his suffering he presented himself alive to them by many convincing proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God. 4 While staying with them, he ordered them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait there for the promise of the Father. “This,” he said, “is that you have heard from me; 5 for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”
6 So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, is this the time when you will restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 He replied, “It is not for you to know the times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” 9 When he had said this, as they were watching, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. 10 While he was going and they were gazing up toward heaven, suddenly two men in white robes stood by them. 11 They said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up toward heaven? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”
This is the Word of the Lord.

GREAT THANKSGIVING & Preface by Vetia Smith
Please UNMute & RESPOND
The Lord be with you,
Lift up your hearts
Let us give thanks to the Lord, our God.
It is indeed right and salutary that we should at all times and in all places offer thanks and praise to you, O Lord, Holy Father, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who on this day overcame death and the grave and by his glorious resurrection opened to us the way of everlasting life. And so with the Church on Earth and all the hosts of heaven we praise your name and join their unending hymn.
Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord, led by Pastor Todd
Please MUTE & SING:
HOLY, HOLY, HOLY, LORD, Lord God of power and might. Heaven and earth are full of your glory, Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he, who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna, in the highest.
WORDS OF INSTITUTION & Lord's Prayer, led by Vetia Smith
The Words of Institution are recorded for us in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke as well as by St. Paul in 1 Corinthians 11:
“Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night in which He was betrayed, took bread and when He had given thanks, He broke it and gave it to His disciples saying: ‘Take and eat; this is My body, which is given for you. This do in remembrance of Me.’
“In the same way also He took the cup after supper, gave thanks, and gave it to them saying: ‘Drink of it all of you; this cup is the New Covenant in My blood, which is shed for you and for all people, for the remission of sins. This do as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.'”
When the disciples didn't know how to PRAY in the face of the challenges ahead of them, they asked Jesus for help. He said, "Pray this way!" Will you share with me the Lord's Prayer?
Please UNMute & RESPOND

M) FOURTH Song: I'll Fly Away, led by the Gospel Enforcers, Live at the Brumley Gospel Sing
Some glad mornin' when this life is over, I'll fly away
To a home on God's celestial shore, I'll fly away
Just a few more weary days and then, I'll fly away
'Til I die, Hallelujah, by and by, I'll fly away
I'll fly away, oh, glory, I'll fly away
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by, I'll fly away
Just a few more weary days and then, I'll fly away
To a home where joy shall never end, I'll fly away
One of these day, I'll fly away, I'm goin' home, I'll fly away, Gonna meet Jesus, I'll fly away, When He calls me, I'll fly away,
