MY CUP BRIMS WITH BLESSING

Psalm 23 (The Message) read by #1

God, my [COMPANION]! I don’t need a thing. You have bedded me down in lush meadows, you find me quiet pools to drink from. True to your word, you let me catch my breath and send me in the right direction.

Even when the way goes through Death Valley, I’m not afraid when you walk at my side. Your trusty shepherd’s crook makes me feel secure. You serve me a six-course dinner right in front of my enemies. You revive my drooping head; my cup brims with blessing.

Your beauty and love chase after me every day of my life. I’m back home in the house of God for the rest of my life.

A) FIRST SONG: How Great Thou Art, led by Pastor Todd

Please MUTE and SING ... lyrics are on the Screen

  • O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,  Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;  I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,  Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

  • CHORUS: Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,  How great Thou art, How great Thou art. Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,  How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

  • When through the woods, and forest glades I wander,  And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees. When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze. CHORUS

  • When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,  And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart. Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,  And then proclaim: "My God, how great Thou art!" CHORUS

B) FIRST LESSON: Zechariah 9:9-12, led by #2
  • Rejoice greatly, O daughter Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter Jerusalem! Lo, your king comes to you; triumphant and victorious is he, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. He will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the war-horse from Jerusalem; and the battle bow shall be cut off, and he shall command peace to the nations; his dominion shall be from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth. As for you also, because of the blood of my covenant with you, I will set your prisoners free from the waterless pit. Return to your stronghold, O prisoners of hope; today I declare that I will restore to you double.

This is the Word of the Lord.

THANKS BE TO GOD.

D) MESSAGE for the YOUNG at HEART, led by Yarlette Bryant, Sydney Brown and the gifted Goffney Girls
E) LITURGY & PRAYER led by #3 & #4
  • 3) The grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

AND ALSO WITH YOU

  • 4) We gather together and share a CREED to remember that in God, we have a Companion who will never fail us and will be with us always. It is a CREED that reminds us that death is never the final answer, and the hope springs eternal for those who follow the God of Resurrection and Life.

I BELIEVE IN GOD,

the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST,

God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead.* On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I BELIEVE IN THE HOLY SPIRIT,

the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

  • 3) We take this moment to confess our sins: Do you confess that you are captive to sin and cannot free yourself from this trap of sin and death, at least not in this life? Do you confess that you have sinned against God in anger, rebellion, frustration, doubt and fear.

WE DO.

  • 4) Do you confess that, because your neighbor fails to love in the way that God commands, that you also have not loved your neighbor as yourself? Do you confess that you struggle to love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength?

WE DO.

  • 3) Do you ask, with the help of Jesus Christ, Forgive us, Lord, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name.

WE DO. AMEN.

  • 4) Brothers and sisters hear this grace: In the mercy of almighty God, Jesus Christ was given to die for you and for His sake, God forgives you all of your sins. As a called disciple of Christ I declare the entire forgiveness of all of your sins, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

AMEN.

F) GOSPEL LESSON: Matthew 11:16-19, 25-30, read by #5 & #6

Our Gospel Lesson comes from the Matthew in the 11th Chapter.

GLORY TO YOU, O LORD!

Halle, Halle, Halle-lujah, led by Tanya Browne & Dolphene Davis

  • (5) "But to what will I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to one another, "We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we wailed, and you did not mourn.' For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, "He has a demon'; the Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, "Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds."

  • (6) At that time Jesus said, "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

  • (5) "Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me;

  • (6) For I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

This is the Gospel of the Lord.

PRAISE TO YOU, O CHRIST.

G: SECOND SONG: Surely Goodness, Surely Mercy, led by Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir
  • The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want, In green pastures He makes me lie down, He restores my soul, and leads me on for His Name, For His great Name

  • CHORUS: Surely goodness, surely mercy, Right beside me all my days, And I will dwell in Your house forever, And bless Your Holy Name

  • You prepare a table right before, Me in the presence of my enemy, Though the arrow flies, and the terror of night is at my door, I'll trust You Lord. CHORUS

  • And even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil And even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, You are on my side CHORUS

H) My Cup Brims with Blessing

(3:15) Come unto him all ye that labor. Come unto him ye that are heavy laden, and he will give you rest. Take his yoke upon you and learn of him. For he is meek and lowly of heart and ye shall find rest. And he shall find rest unto your soul.

J) THIRD SONG: Companionship Song, (by Elimnizer Quidet Muaña) led by Pastor Todd

Please MUTE and SING along

  • 1) On this path that I tread, I can't make it on my own. But I'm glad I have you, My companion to lean on. When I fall, you are there, Guiding me and giving care. You're a blessing, indeed, beyond compare.

  • CHORUS: I thank you Lord I have someone, With whom I can pursue, One who cares to understand, What my life is going through. What a privilege, with companions I can pray; And together we will serve God all our days.

  • 2) Look ahead to the prize, With endurance run the race; Hand in hand, to the end, We can make it by God's grace. I just love spending time, With you, friend, to fellowship. I do treasure our true companionship. CHORUS

  • 3) Preach the word, testify; With our friends the gospel share. Don't be scared, speak the truth, And together we declare. Later on, we will see, One by one they will be free. God is with us; He's one with us. Be brave! CHORUS

GREAT THANKSGIVING & Preface by #7

Please UNMute & RESPOND

The Lord be with you,

AND ALSO WITH YOU

Lift up your hearts

WE LIFT THEM TO THE LORD!

Let us give thanks to the Lord, our God.

IT IS RIGHT TO GIVE OUR THANKS AND PRAISE.

It is indeed right and salutary that we should at all times and in all places offer thanks and praise to you, O Lord, Holy Father, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who on this day overcame death and the grave and by his glorious resurrection opened to us the way of everlasting life. And so with the Church on Earth and all the hosts of heaven we praise your name and join their unending hymn.

Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord, led by Pastor Todd

Please MUTE & SING:

HOLY, HOLY, HOLY, LORD, Lord God of power and might. Heaven and earth are full of your glory, Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he, who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna, in the highest.

WORDS OF INSTITUTION & Lord's Prayer, led by #7

The Words of Institution are recorded for us in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke as well as by St. Paul in 1 Corinthians 11:

  • “Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night in which He was betrayed, took bread and when He had given thanks, He broke it and gave it to His disciples saying: ‘Take and eat; this is My body, which is given for you. This do in remembrance of Me.’

  • “In the same way also He took the cup after supper, gave thanks, and gave it to them saying: ‘Drink of it all of you; this cup is the New Covenant in My blood, which is shed for you and for all people, for the remission of sins. This do as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.'”

When the disciples didn't know how to PRAY in the face of the challenges ahead of them, they asked Jesus for help. He said, "Pray this way!" Will you share with me the Lord's Prayer?

Please UNMute & RESPOND

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,

thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread;

and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us;

and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Lamb, Of God, led by Dolphene Davis & He Looked Beyond My Faults and Saw My Need, led by Tanya Browne

  • Let us pray. Life-giving God, in the mystery of Christ’s resurrection you send light to conquer darkness, water to give new life, and the bread of life to nourish your people. Help us to stand with Jesus as witnesses to your Son’s resurrection, that we may show your glory to all the world, through Jesus Christ, our risen Lord. AMEN.
