(D) Our First Lesson comes from the Gospel of John in the 14th Chapter.

GLORY TO YOU, O LORD!

  • Jesus said to the disciples: 1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And you know the way to the place where I am going.” 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you know me, you will know my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”

  • (C) 8 Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and you still do not know me? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own; but the Father who dwells in me does his works.

This is the Word of the Lord. THANKS BE TO GOD.

C) MESSAGE for the YOUNG at HEART, led by Yarlette Bryant and the gracious Goffney Girls
D) LITURGY & PRAYER led by Alicia Brown & Carlos Leggett

A) The grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

  • AND ALSO WITH YOU

C) We gather together and share a CREED to remember that in God, we have a Companion who will never fail us and will be with us always. Will you share with me the Apostle's Creed?:

  1. I BELIEVE IN GOD, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

  2. I BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead.* On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

  3. I BELIEVE IN THE HOLY SPIRIT, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

A) We take this moment to confess our sins: Do you confess that we are captive to sin and cannot free ourselves. That we have sinned against God in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone.

  • WE DO.

C) Do you confess that we have not loved God with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.

  • WE DO

A) For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name.

  • AMEN

C) In the mercy of almighty God, Jesus Christ was given to die for you and for His sake, God forgives you all of your sins. As a called disciple of Christ I declare the entire forgiveness of all of your sins, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

  • AMEN

A) Let us pray. Almighty God, your Son Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life. Give us grace to love one another, to follow in the way of his commandments, and to share his risen life with all the world, for he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. AMEN.

E) GOSPEL LESSON: Luke 15:11-22, led by Marie Levier & Tanya Browne

The Holy Gospel according to Luke, the 15th Chapter. GLORY TO YOU, O LORD!

  • (M) 11 Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons. 12 The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them. 13 “Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living.

  • (T) 14 After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. 15 So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. 16 He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything. 17 “When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 18 I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’

  • (M) 20 So he got up and went to his father. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. 21 “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’

  • (T) 22 “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. 24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.

The Gospel of the Lord. PRAISE TO YOU, O CHRIST.

G) SERMON led by Pastor Todd Bruning

As your glance met my stare. But your heart drifted off, Like the land split by sea, I tried to go, to follow, To kneel down at your feet

I'll run, I'll run, I'll run, RUN TO YOU I'll run, I'll run, I'll run, RUN TO YOU

I've been settling scores, I've been fighting so long, But I've lost your war,

And our kingdom is gone, How shall I win back, Your heart which was mine,

I have broken bones and tattered clothes, I've run out of time (Refrain)

I will break down the gates of heaven, A thousand angels stand waiting for me Ooh take my heart, And I'll lay down my weapons Break my shackles to set me free

(Refrain)

The Lord Be With You

The Lord be with you and also with you and also with you – Sing with me my friend. Wherever you are, wherever you go, the Lord be with you. I don’t know you now but give me your hand and we’ll teach the world, right here where we stand. YOU, ME, and the LORD, my friend there is nothing that we can’t do.

H) THIRD SONG I Know My Redeemer Lives, (Nicole Mullen), led by Tanya Browne

Please MUTE & SING

Who taught the sun where to stand in the morning? And who told the ocean you can only come this far? And who showed the moon where to hide 'til evening? Whose words alone can catch a falling star?

  • Well I know my redeemer lives, I know my redeemer lives All of creation testify, This life within me cries I know my redeemer lives,

The very same God that spins things in orbit, Runs to the weary, the worn and the weak, And the same gentle hands that hold me when I'm broken They conquered death to bring me victory

  • Well I know my redeemer lives, I know my redeemer lives All of creation testify, This life within me cries I know my redeemer lives,

I know my Redeemer, he lives, To take away my shame And he lives forever, I'll proclaim, That the payment for my sin Was the precious life he gave, But now he's alive and, There's an empty grave

  • Well I know my redeemer lives, I know my redeemer lives All of creation testify, This life within me cry I know my redeemer lives,

I know, I know (he lives) he lives, he lives, yeah, yeah

Please MUTE & SING

  • LORD, GOD, HEAVENLY KING, Almighty God and Father, we worship you, we give you thanks, we praise you for your glory, Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Faither, Lord, God, Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world, have mercy on us,

  • You are seated at the right hand of the Father, receive our prayer. For you alone are the Holy One, You alone are the Lord, You alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ with the Holy Spirit, In the Glory of God the Father, Amen.

GREAT THANKSGIVING & Preface by Lakeesha Browne

Please UNMute & RESPOND

The Lord be with you,

  • AND ALSO WITH YOU

Lift up your hearts

  • WE LIFT THEM TO THE LORD!

Let us give thanks to the Lord, our God.

  • IT IS RIGHT TO GIVE OUR THANKS AND PRAISE.

It is indeed right and salutary that we should at all times and in all places offer thanks and praise to you, O Lord, Holy Father, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who on this day overcame death and the grave and by his glorious resurrection opened to us the way of everlasting life. And so with the Church on Earth and all the hosts of heaven we praise your name and join their unending hymn.

Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord, led by Pastor Todd

Please MUTE & SING:

HOLY, HOLY, HOLY, LORD, Lord God of power and might. Heaven and earth are full of your glory, Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he, who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna, in the highest.

WORDS OF INSTITUTION & Lord's Prayer, led by Lakeesha Browne

The Words of Institution are recorded for us in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke as well as by St. Paul in 1 Corinthians 11:

  • “Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night in which He was betrayed, took bread and when He had given thanks, He broke it and gave it to His disciples saying: ‘Take and eat; this is My body, which is given for you. This do in remembrance of Me.’

  • “In the same way also He took the cup after supper, gave thanks, and gave it to them saying: ‘Drink of it all of you; this cup is the New Covenant in My blood, which is shed for you and for all people, for the remission of sins. This do as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.'”

When the disciples didn't know how to PRAY in the face of the challenges ahead of them, they asked Jesus for help. He said, "Pray this way!" Will you share with me the Lord's Prayer?

Please UNMute & RESPOND

  1. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,

  2. thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

  3. Give us this day our daily bread;

  4. and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us;

  5. and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

  6. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Lamb, Of God, led by Take 6

Please MUTE & SING:

  1. Your only son, no sin to hide, But You have sent him from Your side, To walk upon this guilty side, And to become the lamb of God,

  2. Your gift of love, gift of love they crucified, They laughed and scorned Him as He died, The humble King, they named a fraud, And sacrificed the lamb of God,

  • O lamb of God, O lamb of God, Sweet lamb of God, Lamb of God, I love that holy lamb of God, O wash me in His precious blood, My Jesus Christ, the lamb of God, Holy, holy, holy, Merciful and mighty, He's King of Kings and Lord of Lords

  • O lamb of God, O lamb of God, Sweet lamb of God, lamb of God, I love that holy lamb of God, O wash me in the blood … That precious flow, oh the blood, My Jesus Christ, the lamb of God, My Jesus Christ, the lamb of God
